The Project for Enhancement of Sericulture for Farmers in Marawi City

The Government of Japan helps Asahi Agri-Based Producer Cooperative in expanding its sericulture program in Marawi City . Through The Project for Enhancement of Sericulture for Farmers in Marawi City, a silk worm rearing house will be constructed while grass cutters, cocooning frames and a vehicle will be procured. With the need to providing income opportunities to farmers in Lanao del Sur, Asahi needs support to expand and share the technology of producing fresh cocoons to more beneficiaries in the area. About six hundred farmers are expected to benefit from the project.

For sericulture, Asahi rears silk worms that can produce fresh cocoons which serve as raw materials in making silk.
