Embassy now accepts applications for the
2009 Asian Youth Fellowship (AYF) Program
The Japan Information and Cultural Center (JICC), Embassy of Japan, is now accepting applications for the Asian Youth Fellowship (AYF) Program for 2009 . The AYF Program is one of the many scholarships offered by the Japanese Government which aims to nurture human networking as well as to promote friendship and mutual understanding among Asian countries.
The grantees mustl take a preparatory course of the Japanese language and other basic subjects for approximately 7 months at the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Institute in Kansai, Japan. Upon completion of the preparatory course, grantees will be proceeding to Japanese graduate schools as Japanese Government Scholarship students.
Fields of Study
-Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering and Natural Sciences EXCEPT Japanese Studies or Japanese Culture Studies
Basic Qualifications
-16 years of formal education (from Grade 1) with excellent academic performance
-Under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2010 (born on or after April 2, 1975)
-Good proficiency in English
This scholarship is open to all Filipino citizens satisfying the above qualifications. Application forms are available at the JICC Library in Manila, the Consular Offices of Japan in Cebu City and Davao City. Deadline for submission of applications is November 5, 2008 (Wednesday).
