Two nights of enchanting music renditions of classics will be co-presented by the Japan Foundation Manila (JFM) and the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Co-organized with the Embassy of Japan, this is the highlight of this year's Philippines-Japan Friendship Month.

The “J-Classic Concert – A Night of Japanese Harmony” which will take place on July 14 and 15 will feature the performances of Mr. Susumu Aoyagi on the piano, Ms. Takako Hagiwara on the flute, Ms. Ayako Ishikawa on the violin and Ms. Risa Kataoka on the koto at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino of the CCP at 7:30 p.m. The July 14 (Tuesday) performance will be open to the public and free of charge, whereas the July 15 (Wednesday) performance is invitational.

The quartet should captivate the audience with their musical repertoire including the masterpieces of Chopin and Franz Lizst as well as traditional and popular Japanese pieces such as Michiyo Miyagi's “Haru no Umi” and Kei Ogura's “Ai Sansan.” The musicians will also be joined by a Filipino guest guitarist Mr. Sixto “Butch” Bautista in their performance.

In addition to the concerts, the artists will share with Filipino music professors and students, the current trends in teaching and learning classical music in Japan, at the UST Conservatory of Music in the morning of July 16 (Thursday).
