|
An afternoon of Japanese culture learning through fun games and activities co-organized by the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation Manila (JFM) will be enjoyed by the children from Kanlungan sa Erma on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at the JICC Multipurpose Hall of the Embassy of Japan. Organization
The “Hello Japan,” an outreach program organized to celebrate the Philippines-Japan Friendship Day, will invite 30 children from the Kanlungan sa Erma , a child-caring institution based in Ermita and Malate in Manila. On the program, they will first learn some greetings and basic expressions in a simple Japanese lesson presented by the Japan Foundation Nihongo specialists. Then, they will listen to Japanese and Filipino songs by the Manila Glee Club. They will also learn how to sing the Japanese children's song “Kaeru no Uta” with the help of the Glee Club. Further, the children will, after watching a demonstration of the traditional Japanese sport Sumo by JFM teachers, actually take part in a simplified Sumo tournament among themselves.
The “Hello Japan” aims to introduce to Filipino children the various aspects of Japanese culture and to strengthen the friendship between Japanese and Filipinos.
This program is one of the highlights of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month of July. For inquiries about other Friendship Month events, please visit the JFM website at http://www.jfmo.org.ph or call the Japan Information and Culture Center at 551-5710 and the JFM at 811-6155 to 58.
