Ten groups will demonstrate their musical and artistic talents through their performances of their favorite J-Pop/anime numbers in the exciting finale of the J-Pop Anime Singing Competition on July 25, 2009 (Saturday) at the Activity Center of Market! Market! in Taguig City.
The groups, namely, Bage from Valenzuela City, Morning Star from Davao City, Sakura Beat and SOS Brigade from Makati City, Newtone from Paranaque City, What Is?! from Manila, Ryuusei from Laguna, Hikari from Pampanga, B-612 from Quezon City and Muchos Puercos from Las Piñas City will vie to be the best amateur J-Pop/anime singing group.
The ten groups were chosen to proceed to the J-Pop Anime Singing Competition Grand Finale out of eighty five groups coming from as far as Baguio City in the northern part of the country and Zamboanga City in the south that registered for the competition.
The top three winning groups will receive free Nihongo lessons from the Nihongo Center Foundation and certificates from the Embassy of Japan. The best group which performs a song from animes currently aired in HERO TV will receive the HERO's Choice Award.
In addition to listening to exciting performances by the competing groups, the audience can also enjoy and take part in other various activities such as anime-making demonstration by TOEI Animation Philippines, musical performance by special guest artist Sitti, the Japan Foundation Manila manga library, and a film showing of classic and rare animes produced in the budding period of Japanese animation (between the 1920s and 1950s).
This event, geared towards the youth and the young-at-heart who appreciate Japanese popular culture and music, is the highlight of the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month Celebration for this year.
The J-Pop Anime Singing Competition is co-organized by the Embassy of Japan and the Japan Foundation Manila with the cooperation of HERO TV, TOEI Animation Philippines, Ayala Malls Market! Market!, Nihongo Center Foundation, and MAX FM 103.5.
