Japan Condoles with the Philippines on Former President Aquino's Passing Away

 

 

 

The Government and people of Japan expressed sadness over the demise of former President Corazon Aquino.

 

Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso sent the following message to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

 

“I am most saddened to learn of the demise of former President Corazon Aquino, and wish to convey my deepest sympathies.

Ms. Aquino was a symbol of democracy, and contributed to the promotion of the friendship between Japan and the Philippines for years.

On behalf of the Government and people of Japan, I wish to reiterate our greatest respect for her contribution and extend my sincere condolences to the Government and people of the Philippines.”

 

Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone also sent the following message to Foreign Secretary Alberto G. Romulo.

 

“Upon learning of the demise of former President Corazon Aquino, I wish to extend my sincere condolences.

I commemorate her contribution in the promotion of the friendly relations between Japan and the Philippines, and pray for the repose of her soul.”

 

Japanese Ambassador Makoto Katsura likewise extend s deepest sympathies and condolences over the passing away of the former President.
