Learning the Japanese language in Davao and other places in Mindanao will become easier to more students and, indeed, a greater number of people with various needs in the region as Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku (MKD or Mindanao International College) will soon inaugurate its Nihongo E-Learning Studio. MKD will keep the studio open for students of Nihongo and Japan-related studies of other universities in the region and make the E-Learning materials accessible to all those interested in the entire Philippines.
The inauguration ceremony will be led by Minister Hidenobu Sobashima, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan, and Judge Antonina Escovilla, President of MKD on September 23, 2009 at MKD.
The setting up of the studio with the equipment which will enhance the school's e-learning capabilities and make Nihongo learning more accessible, convenient and flexible, was made possible through the US$46,675 grant for MKD signed between Ambassador Makoto Katsura and Judge Escovilla in February this year.
The grant for MKD is funded under the Government of Japan's Grant Aid for Cultural Grassroots Projects (GACGP). The GACGP was introduced in 2000 as a scheme of Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA) to provide assistance to directly benefit the grassroots level in developing economies.
