Japan Delivered PhP 10M Emergency Assistance for
Tropical Storm Ondoy Victims

Mr . Hidenobu Sobashima, Chargé d'Affaires of Japan, turn ed over to day Japan's emergency relief assistance for the victims of Tropical Storm Ondoy to Honorable Secretary Esperanza Cabral of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The turnover took place at DSWD's National Resource Operations Center in Pasay City at 6 p.m. in the afternoon and was witnessed by the JICA Chief Representative, Mr. Norio Matsuda.
The assistance, worth 20 million yen (approximately 10 million pesos or US$220,000), will alleviate the difficulties of the people affected by the calamity. It includes 1,500 sleeping mattresses, 1,500 blankets, 20 water tanks, 1,500 polyester tanks, and 15 water purifiers that will help lighten the living conditions especially in evacuation centers.
The decision to offer this assistance was announced on September 28 by the Japanese Government.
