Japanese NGO Delivers Relief Goods for Tropical Storm Victims

Mr. Hidenobu Sobashima, Chargé d'Affaires of Japan, expressed his sympathy to the people affected by Tropical Storm Ondoy in the Municipality of Biñan, Laguna Province, on October 9, 2009 and witnessed the distribution of relief goods by a Japanese NGO, Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Japan.
ADRA Japan is a member-NGO of Japan Platform (JPF) to which the Government of Japan has decided to contribute for supporting its relief and medical missions for the people affected by Tropical Storm Ondoy. JPF, a humanitarian aid organization to help with emergencies outside Japan, comprises Japanese NGOs, and commercial and government institutions. To date, three JPF member-NGOs, including ADRA Japan, have dispatched their staff members to various areas affected by the calamity, with the assistance from the Japanese Government. The contribution of JPF is up to 30 Million Yen (approximately 15 Million Pesos or USD333 thousand).
In response to the calamity caused by Tropical Storm Ondoy, the Government of Japan already delivered emergency relief goods equivalent to 20 million yen (approximately 10 million pesos or USD 220,000) to the Philippine Government on September 30.
