Register for the J-Pop Anime Singing Contest and

Celebrate the 2010 Phil-Japan Friendship Month

The J-Pop Anime Singing Contest is now open for registration in search of J-Pop and anime singing talents across the Philippines. A fter the success of the J-Pop Anime Singing Competition last year and due to popular demand, the Embassy of Japan in cooperation with the Japan Foundation Manila, together with SM Supermalls and SM Cyberzone, is presenting the 2 nd J-Pop Anime Singing Contest to celebrate the Philippines-Japan Friendship Month.

The Singing Contest is open to all Filipino amateur singing groups composed of three to five members. This year, groups will be allowed to have Japanese members as long as they will play supporting roles in the group (e.g. instrumentalists or back-up vocals or dancers) and do not exceed more than half of the total number of group members (e.g. a group of three can have one Japanese member).

Ten groups which pass the screening process will be invited to perform at the Grand Final to be held on July 24, 2010 (Saturday) at the Cyberzone Event Center SM North EDSA. The competing groups will perform one song popularized in J-Pop or anime in original Japanese language. Top winners will win free lessons from Nihongo Center Foundation and Center for Pop Music Philippines and take home exciting prizes from Ajinomoto, Canon, Heritage Hotel, Panasonic, Sony, Toshiba and Yakult. At the Grand Final, the participants can also enjoy special treats courtesy of Yoshinoya.

Application forms are available at the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) Library, Embassy of Japan, 2627 Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City or can be downloaded at www.ph.emb-japan.go.jp. Registration starts on March 01, 2010 and ends on May 20, 2010.
