Japan Hands Over Php14M Emergency Relief Goods for Tropical Storm Sendong Victims

Japanese Ambassador Toshinao Urabe will hand over to morrow Japan's emergency relief goods for the victims of Tropical Storm Sendong to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The turnover is scheduled at DSWD in Quezon City on 22 December at 3 P.M. The relief goods will be received by DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman.
The assistance, worth 25 million yen (approximately 14 million pesos), aims to alleviate the difficulties of the people affected by the calamity. It includes water tanks, generators, tents, sleeping mattresses, blankets and other relief items that will mitigate the difficult living conditions especially in evacuation centers. Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will transport the items to Cagayan De Oro City for immediate distribution to the affected people in the area.
The decision to offer this assistance was announced last Monday, December 19 th by the Japanese Government.
