I would like to extend my congratulation to the Municipality of Caraga and residents of Barangay Mercedes for the successful implementation of The Project for Construction of Potable Water Supply System in Barangay Mercedes, Municipality of Caraga, Davao Oriental.
It is my great pleasure that the Government and people of Japan have had an opportunity to contribute to this worthy endeavor and to cooperate with people in Barangay Mercedes. With the construction of the spring-fed water system, I hope that people in Barangay Mercedes will have better access to water and they will no longer have to spend hours in fetching water from very far sources. In addition, the incidences of waterborne diseases in your locality will be reduced or prevented.
Let me congratulate the Municipal Government of Caraga led by Mayor Alicia Benitez Mori on successfully implementing this project. I have learned that the barangay was hit by heavy rains last year, which resulted in flooding, landslides and property losses in your community. I commend the painstaking work of barangay leaders and communities for continuing the implementation of this p roject under such difficult situations. This project would not have been realized without the cooperation of all stakeholders. I further count on you all to make the most use of the facilities while maintaining them in good conditions.
In closing, I sincerely hope that this project will contribute to the fostering of better partnership and deepening of friendship between the Governments and peoples of Japan and the Philippines.
