EXTENSION of RE-ENTRY PERMIT

A foreigner who has departed from Japan with a re-entry permit and is unable to return to Japan before the end of the re-entry permit's period of validity for an unavoidable reason, such as illness, travel interruption, or continuation of studies, can apply for an extension of the re-entry permit's period of validity by submitting documents detailing the reason.
 
REQUIREMENTS
All documents must be original unless otherwise stated.
  1.  Philippine Passport
    •  

(It is necessary to submit the passport that has the re-entry permit even if it is expired.)

       
  2.   Application Form for Extension of Re-Entry Permit
    •  

(Available at the entrance of Embassy.)

       
  3.  (If the period of the re-entry permit has passed) Explanation Letter and Documents to prove the reason of expierd the period
   
  4. Foreign Registration Certificate(Card)
       
FILING APPLICATION
   
 

Application should be filed through accredited agencies. (Please see our website for the list of Agents or get one from FAX service by Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Tokyo , or get one from visa gate of the Embassy.)

     
NOTICE
   
 

○ The re-entry permit's which the period of validity expired can not be extended in principle.

○ In case that the passport bearing the re-entry permit is lost, the applicant has to request from his/her relative, etc. in Japan for the Foreign Registration Certificate issued by City Hall and get the re-entry permit stamp at the back page at Immigration office in Japan .

In case that there is no relative in Japan , the applicant has to arrange with the City hall for the Foreign Registration Certificate


○ Even for bearers of multiple re-entry permit, once an extension of re-entry permit is granted, after entering Japan, that re-entry permit cannot be used anymore. There is a need to obtain a re-entry permit if there is a desire to re-enter Japan anew.
