78th Birthday of His Majesty The Emperor of Japan

Japan's National Day reception was held on November 29, 2011, in celebration of the 78th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan at the Ambassador's Residence in Forbes Park, Makati City, which was attended by Foreign Secretary Albert F. Del Rosario, members of the diplomatic community in Manila, and many other Philippine dignitaries and friends of Japan.
At said reception, the Ambassador of Japan, Toshinao Urabe, expressed his thanks for the spontaneous outpour of help and goodwill of the international community all over the world, in particular the Philippines. The Ambassador also thanked the guests as well, for their cooperation and support in promoting Japan-Phililppines relationship and for making himself feel very much at home after only seven months stay in Manila.
He informed that Japan is recovering rapidly after the disaster of March 11 affecting Northeast Japan and said that “just like we created the most energy-efficient economy in the world after the oil crisis in the 70s, we will turn this hardship into a blessing.”
On this occasion, a special booth was put up to promote products and tourist destinations of Yamagata Prefecture, a part of the Tohoku Region which was hit by March 11 disaster. The guests enjoyed delicious food of Yamagata such as beef and fruits and got familiarized with tourism in Yamagata.
