Embassy of Japan’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Akio Isomata, will hand over tomorrow Japan’s emergency relief goods for the victims of Typhoon Pablo to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The turnover ceremony will be held at DSWD in Quezon City at 8 o’clock in the morning tomorrow. The relief goods will be received by DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman.
The assistance, worth 45 million yen (approximately 22 million pesos), aims to alleviate the difficulties of the people affected by the calamity. It includes 300 tents, 3000 jerry cans, 3000 sleeping pads and 200 plastic sheets that will mitigate the difficult living conditions in and around evacuation centers.
The emergency assistance was announced last Saturday, December 8th, in light of friendly relations between the two nations and in line with the Japanese Government’s commitment to assist the Philippines’ disaster management efforts.
