Be a Manga Master and Join the Manga Mania!

Calling All Filipino Manga Artists to the 6th International MANGA Awards

The Embassy of Japan is inviting all creative and innovative Filipino manga artists to intensify their imaginative skills and make their own original masterpieces and join the 6 th International Manga Awards.

Now on its 6th year, the International MANGA Awards was established to share Japanese pop culture and to further promote understanding of Japan. It was created to recognize the contribution of manga artists and their significant role in the promotion of manga worldwide.

Manga is the Japanese word for “comics” consisting of caricatures and print cartoons. At present, manga has remarkably reached its ultimate hype and popularity and still continues to influence many comic book artists from around the world.

In the Philippines, Filipino manga artists continue to take pride in creating unique masterpieces that eventually lead to global recognition. For two consecutive years, 2007 and 2008, Filipino artists received recognition from the International Manga Awards.

This year, the 6th International MANGA Awards Committee will give the Gold award to the best manga and approximately three works of merit will receive the Silver Award. Winners will be invited to Japan for around ten days as supplementary prize for the award ceremony. The Awarding Ceremony will be held in Tokyo in January 2013.
