NEW BATCH OF JAPANESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARS

The 2012 Pre-Departure Orientation for

Japanese Government Scholars

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES, Inc.) held a pre-departure orientation for the 2012 Japanese Government Scholars on September 8, 2012 (Saturday) at the JICC Multi-Purpose Hall of the Embassy of Japan. The scholars are scheduled to leave this October to pursue further studies in various Japanese universities.

 

Minister Shinsuke Shimizu, Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Japan graced the pre-departure orientation to congratulate the 35 students who will be the latest addition to the roster of the Japanese Government Scholars. JICC Director Kiyoshi Takeuchi was also present to welcome both scholars and PHILAJAMES alumni alike. The pre-departure orientation ended with an open forum with the PHILAJAMES officers to better prepare the new scholars for their upcoming studies in Japan.

 

Since 1954, the Japanese Government Scholarship has been supporting foreign nationals to study in Japan for advancement of education and the promotion of mutual understanding. Since its implementation more than 50 years ago, there have been about 3,000 Filipino recipients of this scholarship. All Japanese Government Scholarship Programs are offered yearly.
