Embassy of Japan Partnered with Department of Tourism in

Staging Merry Treats at Rizal Park

 

 

 

The cosplayers gather together in a CausetoPlay: First Costume Play Convention at Rizal Park.

 

Various cosplayers showcased their vibrant costumes.

 

 

To celebrate the beginning of the Yuletide season, over 500 cosplayers and mascots joined together at Rizal Park on December 1, 2012 for the “Merry Treats at Rizal Park!: Mascorade and A CausetoPlay” event organized by the Department of Tourism, National Parks Development Committee, and the Embassy of Japan.

 

Both the children and children at heart were treated to a day of merriment and fun as the cosplayers and mascots paraded their colorful and animated costumes in Rizal Park. Participants enjoyed a variety of fun activities such as face painting, magic show, storytelling session, anime film screening of Plan Zet, Taiko Drum Performance by the Manila Japanese Residents Society Inc. and a l ive band performance by the Evening Tea Time.

 

The Embassy of Japan i ntroduced Japan's diverse culture through interactive activities such as origami demonstration and yukata-wearing session for around 50 underpriviliged kids from Asilo de San Vicente De Paul and the orthopedically handicapped persons from Tahanan Walang Hagdanan. The participants also enjoyed the diorama exhibit of the famous tourist spots in Japan.

 

The “Merry Treats at Rizal Park!: Mascorade and A CausetoPlay” capped off with a cosplay fashion show and the awarding of the best cosplayers. The winners took home cash prizes, Canon IXUS camera, and other exciting gifts.

 

This event is co-presented by Japan Foundation, CoMix Wave Films, Film Development Council of the Philippines, Stagecraft International, Green Energy, Manila Ocean Park, UniSilver Time, Easy Pha-Max Wheatgrass, MAPECON Philippines, Anime Alliance, Evening Tea Time, Harbour View Restaurant and Mario D' boro.
