Japanese Ambassador Toshinao Urabe talks about the Japanese ties with
Mindanao
during his lecture on Japan-Philippines Relations.
Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Toshinao Urabe delivered a lecture entitled "Japan-Philippines Relations" to more than 200 students of the Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku (MKD) and various universities in Davao City at the MKD Multipurpose Hall in Lanang on October 2, 2013.
Ambassador Urabe discussed numerous topics such as the long history of Japanese ties in Mindanao which started at the outset of the 20th. As a strategic partner of the Philippines, Japan supports the efforts in the on-going peace process in Mindanao. He also stressed the cultural affinity, common values and the complementary economies of Japan and the Philippines.
The lecture aimed to strengthen the Philippines-Japan friendship and strategic partnership. It also intended to cultivate a better understanding of the relationship between the two nations, especially among the youth who are expected to play important roles in various sectors of society.
Students and professors said that the lecture was very informative and it enhanced their knowledge about Japan's relationship with the Philippines and the global community. The professors, in particular, stated that through this event they became more motivated to fully impart updated facts on Philippine-Japan relations.
