Japan Sends Disaster Relief Medical Team

to the typhoon affected area

 

 

 

The Japanese Government has decided to dispatch the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Medical Team consisted of 24 members to the area affected by the Typhoon Haiyan (Philippine name: Yolanda), which devastated the Visayas region. The team arrives in the Philippines in the evening of November 11, 2013.

 

Prior to the dispatch of the medical team, two personnel from Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and JICA arrived in the Philippines on November 10 for assessment of the damage.

 

In addition, two JICA experts joined the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) team deployed to the Philippines on November 7 for coordination with international donors.
