Japan Sends Japan Self-Defense Forces to the Philippines
in response to the immense damage caused by Typhoon Yolanda

 

 

1. On November 12, the Government of Japan dispatched members of the Japan Self-Defense Forces (SDF) to form part of the Japan Disaster Relief (JDR) Team to the Philippines in response to the immense damage caused by Typhoon Yolanda.

 

2．Yesterday, two out of a total of approximately 50 team members arrived in Manila, while another group of JDR team members are arriving in Manila on board the SDF aircraft KC-767 around 5 p.m. today at NAIA.


3．The SDF members are expected to conduct activities including medical assistance in the Philippines. The team will launch its activities promptly, while assessing the conditions in the affected area.
