27 Filipino Students Joins the

Japanese Government Scholarship Program

27 Filipino students were recently accepted to the Japanese Government Scholarship Program 2013 for a full scholarship to pursue higher studies in various universities in Japan. Joining the roster of scholars are 25 students under the Research Category, and 2 students under the Special Training Category. All students will be leaving for their studies in April 2013.

 

The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES, Inc.) held the annual pre-departure orientation for the new scholars this March 11, 2013, at the Embassy of Japan. The local chapters of PHILAJAMES in Visayas and Mindanao also conducted their respective pre-departure orientations for the new scholars residing outside Metro Manila.

 

Ambassador Toshinao Urabe presented himself at the pre-departure orientation to personally meet and congratulate the scholars as they prepare for the beginning of their new life in Japan. Members of the PHILAJAMES also presented their share of experiences as former students in Japan. The entire pre-departure orientation aimed not only prepare the scholars for their studies in Japan, but also to give them guidance in choosing potential careers for the future.

 

The Japanese Government Scholarship has been enabling foreign nationals to study in Japan for the promotion of mutual understanding, advancement of education and global human resource development. Since its implementation more than 50 years ago, there have been more than 3,000 Filipino recipients of this scholarship.

Free scholarship consultations are held at the library of the Embassy of Japan every Friday at 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 2:00-4:30 PM. Interested individuals are requested to bring a valid ID to enter the embassy premises.
