Japanese Artists Showcase Contemporary Artworks at the MET Museum

The Japan Foundation, Manila, in cooperation with the Metropolitan Museum of Manila is bringing another distinctly fascinating travelling exhibition to Manila this February at the Tall Galleries of the MET Museum.

The exhibition, Winter Garden: The Exploration of the Micropop Imagination in Contemporary Japanese Art features 35 various art works by 14 young artists from Japan. The art pieces specifically highlight the micropop, a new expression in the contemporary arts which is introduced by the Japanese art critic Midori Matsui.

Its inauguration on February 18, 2014 will be graced by the Japanese Ambassador to the Philippines, H.E. Ambassador Toshinao Urabe together with The Met's President, MS. Tina Colayco and the Japan Foundation's Director, Mr. Shuji Takatori.

To complement the exhibit, a lecture by Ms. Mami Kataoka, chief curator of the Mori Art Museum will be held on March 8, 2014 and a series of art workshops entitled "Stop Motion Video Animation" will also be held on March 31 until the first week of April.
