THE JAPANESE TRAINING SQUADRON SET TO

MAKE A GOODWILL VISIT TO THE PHILIPPINES

The training squadron of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), consisting of three vessels JS Kashima (TV-3508) and JS SETOYUKI (TV-3518) and JS ASAGIRI (DD-127), will be at the South Harbor on a goodwill visit to Manila from October 13 to 16.

The ships have about 730 officers and crew members on board, including 170 newly commissioned officers, under the command of RADM Hideki Yuasa.

During the visit, RADM Yuasa will make courtesy calls on ranking Philippine officials and lay a wreath at the Rizal monument.  Officers and crew members will attend sport exchange program and concert event.

JMSDF ships have visited Manila more than 50 times since 1966, making it one of the most frequent destinations for JMSDF’s training squadron and indicating the strong relations between the Philippine Navy and the JMDSF.
