Japan Delivered Php14M Emergency Relief Goods for Tropical Storm Sendong Victims

Japanese Ambassador Toshinao Urabe turned over today Japan's emergency relief goods for the victims of Tropical Storm Sendong to Secretary Corazon Soliman of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The ceremonial turnover was held at DSWD in Quezon City and witnessed by Japan International Cooperation Agency Chief Representative Mr. Takahiro Sasaki. JICA is transporting the items directly to Cagayan De Oro City for immediate distribution to the affected people in the area in cooperation with DSWD and Philippine Air Force .
The assistance, worth 2 5 million yen (approximately 14 million pesos), aims to alleviate the difficulties of the people affected by the calamity. It includes 20 water tanks, 30 generators , 30 tents, 1500 sleeping mattresses, 1500 blankets and other relief items that will mitigate the difficult living conditions especially in evacuation centers.
The emergency assistance was announced last Monday, December 19 th and is in line with the Japanese Government's commitment to assist the Philippines' disaster management efforts.
