3 rd Batch of Candidate Caregivers Finishes Preparatory Japanese Language Training and Sent Off to Japan

Japanese Ambassador Toshinao Urabe attended the Closing Ceremony of the Preparatory Japanese Language Training and the Send-off Ceremony for the 3 rd Batch of Candidate Caregivers bound for Japan on 8 July 2011 at the TESDA Head Office in Taguig City. Other attendees include d DOLE undersecretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac, TESDA Deputy Director - General Milagros Dawa Hernandez and POEA Administrator Carlos Cao Jr.

The preparatory Japanese language training is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the governments of Japan and the Philippines that have provided Japanese language instructors and training venues respectively. This endeavor, which is the first of its kind, goes beyond their standing commitments in the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) and aims to further assist Filipino candidate caregivers in passing the Japanese Licensure Examination for Caregivers after they enter and work in Japan.

A total of 6 0 Filipinos comprising the 3 rd Batch of Candidate Caregivers to Japan have undergone this preparatory language training from April 11 to July 8, 2011 here in the Philippines. They will depart for Japan on July 18 and undergo an additional six months of Japanese language training there.

The send-off ceremony marks the 3 rd year of this deployment scheme under the JPEPA. JPEPA has been effective since December 11, 2008.
