1 year Extension of the Period of Stay for Filipino Nurse and
Caregiver Candidates under JPEPA
|
|
On February 26, 2013, the Japanese Government decided to extend for 1 year the period of stay of the 2 nd , 3 rd and 4 th batches of nurse and caregiver candidates, who entered Japan in 2010, 2011, 2012 respectively, under Japan-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA).
The Japanese Government has made a series of improvements with regard to the acceptance of nurses and caregivers under JPEPA, such as the provision of preparatory Japanese language training in the Philippines, improvements in the implementation of national licensure examination for EPA candidates, creation of a learning support program, and 1 year extension of the period of stay for the 1 st batch of candidates (2009).
This extension of a period of stay is beyond Japan's legal obligation under JPEPA and is decided considering a friendly relations existing between the two countries as strategic partners. The measure aims to further assist Filipino candidate nurses and caregivers in passing the Japanese licensure examinations. The fact was also taken into account that nurse and caregiver candidates of 2 nd to 4 th batches have not benefitted from the full 6 months preparatory language training currently in place.
The result of this year's licensure examination will be publicized on March 25 th for nurses, on March 28 th for certified careworkers respectively.
