FOR TAGBILARAN CITY CENTRAL SPED CENTER" on March 26, 2014.
Japanese Ambassador Toshinao Urabe and Ms. Ma. Antonette P. DUGANG, Elementary School Principal-2, Tagbilaran City Central SPED Center, signed the grant contract for “THE PROJECT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF CLASSROOMS AND A TRAINING ROOM FOR TAGBILARAN CITY CENTRAL SPED CENTER” on 26 March 2014. The project, amounting to US$ 99,927 (approximately 4.4 million pesos), is funded under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
Tagbilaran City Central SPED Center is the only public authorized school for special education in Bohol province. This center has been providing not only academic education but also vocational trainings like cooking and sewing for physically and mentally challenged students. Currently, the center owns only 6 classrooms and borrows 10 classrooms from neighboring schools to accommodate its students. As the number of enrollees increases and the Center is requested to return the borrowed classrooms, the Center sees an urgent need to construct additional classrooms in the Center.
Through GGP, Tagbilaran City Central SPED Center will be funded for construction of five (5) classrooms with basic school furniture to improve 454 students’ learning environment.
Under the GGP scheme, nearly 500 projects have been implemented since 1989 to provide “Human Security” in the Philippines. Japan has been supporting the people of the Philippines at the grassroots level. This project will further promote strategic partnership between Japan and Philippines.
