A “Taste of Japan in Manila”, sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan was held at Restaurant 9501 of the ABS-CBN Headquarters in Quezon City on March 14, 2016. Thirty participants composed of chefs and members of the media joined the seminar and enjoyed demonstrations on cooking Japanese Cuisine and Dishes. Ms. Machiko Chiba, Japanese cooking expert, and her daughter/pianist, Ms. Akiko Chiba conducted the event.
The purpose of this seminar is to show the participants that anyone can cook Japanese Cuisine easily and arrange Japanese style dishes, cook healthy using only a little vegetable oil as well as enjoy tasty and colorful variety of dishes, using only a Microwave oven.
In Manila, more and more restaurants of Ramen, Tonkatsu or Tempura are opening, but there are not so many Japanese restaurants serving a large variety of Japanese Cuisine. Thus, sharing the real Japanese Cuisine and the Japanese-style dishes with Filipinos is significant. Through these seminars, we look forward to the Filipinos having a deeper understanding of the Japanese Cuisine and Japanese culture, and also deepening the relationship between Japan and the Philippines.
