Sanchez, and around 200 livestock farmers and traders, led the inauguration ceremony for the “Rehabilitated and Modernized Uson, Masbate Livestock ‘Oksyon’ Market” at the municipality of Uson, Masbate on April 14, 2016. This is a joint project between the Department of Agriculture and the Municipality of Uson under the Japan Food Security Project for Underprivileged Farmers, (formerly known as the KR2 Program). Utilizing Japan’s Official Development Assistance, the total fund support for this project is Thirty Three Million Nine Hundred and Eight Thousand Pesos (P33,908,000.00).
This project aims at increasing livestock farmers’ income, supply good quality livestock to the market and improving the economic status of Masbate through the improvement of transactions involving livestock by the installation of a new livestock evaluation system. This project will serve as milestone to improve the supply chain of the livestock industry and food security in the Philippines.
