2017 Young Leaders’ Program (YLP) for Master’s Students in Japan

The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines is pleased to announce that the applications for the 2017 Young Leaders’ Program are now open.
SCHOLARSHIP BACKGROUND
Launched in 2001 by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of the Government of Japan, the Young Leaders’ Program (YLP) is a yearlong academic scholarship program that aims to prepare and empower young professionals from all over the world for future leadership roles in their respective fields.
YLP grantees may choose to specialize in any of the following areas of study: (1) Business Administration, (2) Law, (3) School of Government - Public Administration, and (4) Local Governance. The one-year duration of this program shall commence around October 2017 and classes will be conducted primarily in English. A master’s degree will also be conferred to participants upon successful completion of the program.
It is hoped that through this program, participants would not only grow professionally but also be able to form a solid network of future national leaders who would eventually work together in making major contributions in their home countries’ economic, social, and political development.
CRITERIA
To qualify for the program, interested applicants must be:
- A Filipino citizen
- A Bachelor’s degree holder with excellent academic records
- Highly proficient in English
- 35-40 years old and below (depending on the field of study)
- Employed with at least 3-5 years of work experience
HOW TO APPLY
All YLP applications must be made through the specific recommending authorities for each course. For application forms, guidelines, and other inquiries concerning YLP, please contact the appropriate recommending authority in the numbers given below:
The deadline of application will depend on each recommending authority.
