Celebration of the Conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, on SGV Founder Washington Z. SyCip

On June 14, Japanese Ambassador Kazuhide Ishikawa hosted a reception at his residence to celebrate the conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star, on Mr. Washington Z. SyCip, founder of the SGV Group.

Attended by 100 guests, this special occasion was held in recognition of Mr. SyCip’s invaluable contribution to strengthening the economic relations between Japan and the Philippines.

In his congratulatory remarks, Ambassador Ishikawa lauded Mr. SyCip’s strong commitment to facilitate the development of Japanese companies in the Philippines and to promote a better understanding of Japanese culture among Filipino people.

Mr. SyCip was among the 105 select foreign nationals worldwide who were conferred decorations by the Government of Japan last April 29 for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
