Turn-over Ceremony of 20 Japan-Made Patrol Vehicles with President Duterte
2018/2/13
Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) - Press Release No. 05- 2018

Ambassador Koji Haneda, with Dr. Hiroto Izumi who serves as Special Adviser to Prime Minister Abe, attended the ceremony for the turnover of 20 patrol vehicles for three major police offices in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-lapu. The February 12 event was graced by President Duterte.
These are part of the 100 vehicles donated by the Japanese Government to Philippine National Police (PNP) through its Economic and Social Development Programme on Counter-terrorism and Public Security. Ambassador Haneda expressed hope that these patrol cars would lead the way to stronger public safety capabilities and counter-terrorism efforts of the PNP, at the same time bringing the PNP much closer to the people and local communities.

The Ambassador also noted that the national flags of Japan and the Philippines depicted on both sides of the patrol vehicles represent not only the high morale and valiant spirit of both nations’ respective police forces but also the longstanding PH-Japan ties. The ceremonial turnover of patrol cars signals another step toward the “Golden Age of Strategic Partnership” between the two countries that President Duterte articulated during his visit to Japan last fall.
