Message on condolences on the Passing of Former House Speaker Prospero Nograles

The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former House Speaker Prospero Nograles. As the first House Speaker from Mindanao and then-representative of the first district of Davao, he is a great loss to those who shared his vision for a peaceful and progressive Mindanao. Japan is forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked closely with him for the security and further development of the region.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies go out to his bereaved wife and children, including Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles, and the rest of his family. May they find comfort in the knowledge that he was an inspiration to Mindanaoans who sought a better deal in life amid the toughest challenges.
