The Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, together with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (JASDF) and Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba (CSJL-Calamba), proudly present the “Hello! Japan Special ~Japan Airmen Answer Letranites!~”
In celebration of the 65 Years of Japan-Philippine Friendship, the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines partnered with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force and Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba in bringing a new batch of exciting “Hello! Japan Special” episodes. For this edition, catch as the JASDF, through Major MIZUNO Masaki, Unit Commander of the C-130, answer the questions of bright and eager Filipino students. The program will feature a selection of students from Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba.
Watch as Maj. Mizuno talks about the JASDF’s C-130 Unit and its role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief efforts. See him answer some of the most interesting questions from CSLJ Calamba students about the JASDF. The three-part series will also showcase a brief introduction on the many facets of the JASDF, and the C-130 Unit – Who they are? What do they do? And why do they do it? Japan’s assistance to its allies, including their role during the 2013 Typhoon Yolanda vis-a-vis the Philippines’ assistance to Japan in the aftermath of the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 will also be showcased in the program. He also talks about the recently concluded, first Air-to-Air Bilateral Training on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief with the Philippine Air Force (PAF).

Last July 5-8, 2021, the JASDF’s C-130 Unit was deployed to the Philippines for the aforementioned Bilateral Training on Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HA/DR) between JASDF and the PAF, held at the Clark Air Base, Mabalacat City, Pampanga. The four-day training session focused on ground training such as load/offload training and simulated emergency procedure utilizing one (1) C-130 aircraft from JASDF.
