2022/1/31

The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) Philippines has published a book titled, Comtemporary Development Issues in the Philippines - Lessons from JDS Fellows.

This first publication project of the JDS Philippines is an Alumni Follow-up Activity for the promotion of the scholarship project upon the JDS fellows’ return to the Philippines. The publication is funded by the JICE JDS Follow-up Fund FY 2021.

Written by JDS returned-fellows and JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency) Philippines Office, the book raises contemporary development issues in the Philippines and provides policy recommendations, especially under the COVID-19 Pandemic. The JDS fellows also share their experiences and lessons learned during their studies in Japan. Edited by Dr. HARA Masatoshi (JICE-JDS Philippines Country Officer) and Dr. Francis Mark Quimba (JDS Philippines 4th Batch Alumnus).

The JDS Project is a testament of Japan’s unwavering support for the human resource development policies of the Philippines. Since 2002, in cooperation with the Government of the Philippines and JICA, the JDS Philippines provides employees in the government sector the opportunity to pursue a master’s (or doctorate *starting 2018) degree in Japanese universities with English as a medium of instruction. To date, a total of 399 Filipino JDS fellows have benefitted from this program.
