The 5th Japan-Philippines Vice-Ministerial Strategic Dialogue (Results)

On September 7, the 5th Japan-Philippines Vice-Ministerial Strategic Dialogue was held in Manila, the capital of the Republic of the Philippines.
 
1  The Japanese delegation was represented by Mr. Shigeo Yamada, Senior Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan, while the Philippine delegation was represented by Ms. Maria Theresa Lazaro, Undersecretary of Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.
 
2  In the strategic dialogue, the two countries exchanged views on bilateral cooperation in security and economic issues, as well as cooperation on regional and international issues such as the situation in the East and the South China Sea, the situation in Ukraine, nuclear weapons, missiles, and abduction issues of North Korea, and the situation in Myanmar. The two countries concurred on continuing to work together to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and make concrete progress under the Marcos administration.

Based on the Japan-Philippines Joint Statement adopted on September 2011, Vice-Ministerial Strategic Dialogue was launched in place of the previous Vice-Ministerial Policy Consultation.
