Ambassador Koshikawa's New Year's Greeting for 2024

The past year witnessed a deepening of ties between Japan and the Philippines. Following President Marcos' visit to Japan in February, Prime Minister Kishida visited the Philippines in November, becoming the first Japanese Prime Minister to deliver a policy speech titled "Heart-to-heart ties for the Next Generation" to the joint session of the Philippine Senate and House of Representatives. Furthermore, last year marked the 50th anniversary of the friendly and cooperative relations between Japan and ASEAN. This milestone was celebrated in December when leaders from ASEAN countries, including President Marcos, convened in Tokyo for a special summit meeting.
 
Japan and the Philippines have deepened cooperation in a wide range of areas, including economy, security, culture, and people to people exchanges, establishing stronger relations than ever before. Our relationship has been enjoying a “golden age,” and is now further reaching new heights. The Embassy of Japan, together with the Japanese and Filipino people, will continue its utmost efforts to make this year another blessed and fruitful year of cooperation and trust between our two countries.
