On 21 August 2024, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya, together with the Philippine Association of the Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES), hosted the 2024 Send-off Reception for Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholars at his residence in Makati. Japan's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, TSUGE Yoshifumi, who was on a visit to Manila, was also in attendance to the event. He exchanged views with MEXT alumni and incoming scholars about the program.

Distinguished guests graced the Send-Off Reception, together with other MEXT alumni and incoming Embassy and University recommended scholars, who represent the program’s four (4) different categories (Teacher Training, Japanese Studies, Research, and Young Leaders’ Program scholarships). The scholars are expected to fly soon to Japan to begin their respective academic journeys.

University of the Philippines Los Banos Chancellor Dr. Jose Camacho imparted his insights to the incoming scholars, while Ms. Frances Camille Dumalaog, representative of the current batch of scholars, also conveyed her excitement and gratitude for this opportunity. During the toast, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya offered his sincere congratulations to the scholars and expressed his high hopes for their studies.
The MEXT Scholarship Programme grants international students the opportunity to study in Japanese universities and institutions with complete financial support from the Japanese government.
