2024/11/11

On 4 November 2024, the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) conducted a workshop under the “Space Law for New Space Actors” project in collaboration with the Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) and the Government of Japan. The workshop was attended by Minister for Economic Affairs NIHEI Daisuke, together with PhilSA Director General Dr. Joel Marciano Jr.
During the three-day workshop, lectures and exercises focused on capacity building necessary for countries to appropriately manage and supervise their own space activities. Through this collaboration with the UNOOSA, the Government of Japan supports the safe and sustainable outer space exploration of countries in the Asia-Pacific region by providing capacity-building efforts and legal advisory services related to space law.
In his remarks, Minister Nihei expressed anticipation of the continued success of this collaboration with the UNOOSA and the Philippines in advancing the rule of law in outer space.
