Japan Commits PHP150 Million for Scholarship Project

On 25 April 2025, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Enrique A. Manalo signed and exchanged notes for The Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) at the Department of Foreign Affairs. 

 

The grant, amounting to JPY 389 million (approximately PHP 150 million*), will fund the master’s degree education of 20 young Filipino government employees starting Academic Year 2026-2027 at leading universities in Japan.  
 

 

The JDS is a component of Japan’s continued support for the human resource development initiatives of the Philippines. It aims to enhance the expertise of Filipino professionals in their respective fields, enabling them to contribute further to national development. Since 2002, Japan has supported a total of 459 JDS Fellows from the Philippines.
