Ambassador ENDO Kazuya Meets with DENR Secretary Lotilla to Strengthen Japan-Philippines Environmental Cooperation

On 5 August 2025, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya paid a courtesy call on Secretary Raphael P.M. Lotilla of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City.
Ambassador Endo extended his congratulations to Secretary Lotilla on his recent appointment and conveyed his appreciation for the Secretary’s previous cooperation with Japan during his tenure as Secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE). The Ambassador also reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting the Philippines in advancing its environmental protection and sustainable development goals.

During the meeting, the two officials held a productive exchange of views on key areas of mutual interest, including waste-to-energy initiatives, climate change mitigation, and the development of renewable resources. They also explored potential avenues for enhanced bilateral collaboration to address shared environmental challenges and promote green growth.
Secretary Lotilla welcomed Japan’s ongoing support and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration to achieve shared environmental goals.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in the environmental sector, building on the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
