Minister YOKOTA Naobumi attends the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Construction of Submarine Cable Landing Station in Baler, Aurora

On 06 August 2025, Minister for Economic Affairs YOKOTA Naobumi attended the groundbreaking ceremony for a new submarine cable landing station in Baler, Aurora, which was held by InfiniVAN, Inc. The event was also attended by distinguished guests including the Aurora Province Vice Governor Sid Pimentel Galban, the Executive Assistant of the Aurora Province Governor Reynante Tolentino Jr., National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Director Imelda Walcien, and Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Chief Representative in Manila Mr. SAGAWA Hiroshi. Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Rhoel Aguda also extended his felicitations through a video message.

The construction of the new cable landing station in Baler, Aurora is part of InfiniVAN's efforts to develop telecommunications network hubs in the Philippines to meet the rapidly growing demand for internet traffic.
During his remarks, Minister Yokota expressed his congratulations for the success of the ceremony and the expected completion of the construction of the cable landing station. He also mentioned that, at the Japan-Philippines Summit Meeting in April this year, Prime Minister ISHIBA Shigeru and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had concurred to strengthen public-private partnerships in the information and telecommunication technology area to increase the resilience of the Philippine economy.
Minister Yokota also underscored that cooperation with the Philippine national and local government is invaluable for the smooth construction of the landing station, and expressed his hope for their continued support.
