Ambassador ENDO Kazuya hosts the Send-Off Reception for the 2025 Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholars

2025/9/6

On 06 September 2025, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya, together with the Philippine Association of the Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES), hosted a heartfelt Send-Off Reception to the 2025 batch of Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholars at his residence in Makati City. Apart from the attendance of 42 scholars, the event was also graced by University of the Philippines Vice President for Administration Dr. Augustus Resurreccion, a MEXT alumni who also delivered an inspirational message to the departing scholars.

Prior to this event, on 30 August 2025, the Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) also held an online Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) for the MEXT Scholars. The session provided valuable information and practical guidance to support the incoming students as they prepare for their academic journey in Japan.

In his remarks, Ambassador Endo expressed his congratulations and best wishes to the scholars in their academic pursuits in Japan. As they start to write the MEXT chapter of their educational career, Ambassador Endo also conveyed his hope that they will serve as the bridges in nurturing the thriving cultural and people-to-people connections between Japan and the Philippines.

During the reception, a certificate of appreciation was awarded to Ms. Maria Lourdes S. Agad, who served as a Scholarship Consultant from 2007 to 2025, for her invaluable contributions in promoting the scholarship program and guiding the applicants through the selection process.
