Ambassador ENDO Kazuya attends the symposium, Safeguarding the Maritime Domain for the Free and Open Indo-Pacific

On 06 March 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya attended the symposium entitled, “Safeguarding the Maritime Domain for the Free and Open Indo-Pacific,” co-hosted by the Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) and the Stratbase Institute for Strategic and International Studies in Makati City. Also, in attendance was National Security Council (NSC) Secretary Eduardo Año.
In his keynote address, Ambassador Endo stated that “peace and stability cannot be taken for granted. It must be actively and collectively sustained.” He further reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to working closely with the Philippines and other like-minded partners to uphold a rules-based international order and strengthen cooperation on maritime security.
The symposium provided an opportunity for officials, experts, and stakeholders to exchange perspectives on maritime challenges and opportunities for enhanced regional cooperation. Discussions at the symposium underscored the shared commitment to supporting peace, stability, and prosperity to realize a Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP).
