Ambassador and Madame ENDO attend the Manila Japanese Association’s Bon Odori Festival

2026/3/9

On 7 March 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya and Madame ENDO Akiko attended the "24th (2026) Bon Odori Festival" hosted by the Manila Japanese Association, held at the Manila Japanese School.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Endo expressed his gratitude to the Japanese Association officials, volunteers, and sponsoring companies who supported the event. He also expressed his hopes that this Bon Odori Festival, held as a commemorative event for the 70th Anniversary of Philippines-Japan Friendship, will promote further friendship and exchanges between the Philippines and Japan. The Bon Odori Festival is held annually to foster camaraderie among members of the Manila Japanese Association, promote Philippines-Japan friendship, and share Japanese culture with the greater Filipino community.

This year, approximately 5,000 visitors attended with the participation of food and merchandise stalls. The venue was filled with excitement and liveliness, with a rich program including not only Bon Odori but also a children’s dance performance, Japanese drums, and a grand fireworks display.
