Ambassador ENDO Kazuya pays a courtesy call on Senator Erwin Tulfo

On 16 March 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya paid a courtesy call on Senator Erwin Tulfo, who was recently appointed Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in February 2026. 

During the meeting, Ambassador Endo highlighted the long-standing friendly relations between the Philippines and Japan as they mark the 70th Anniversary of Friendship this 2026. Amid growing uncertainty in regional and global affairs, Ambassador Endo highlighted that Japan intends to continue contributing across a wide range of fields, including security and defense, economic cooperation, peace in Mindanao, and people-to-people exchanges. 

Senator Erwin Tulfo expressed his appreciation for the friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Japan that have continued to strengthen over the past decades. He also stated that the Senate intends to contribute to the further development of both countries’ relations. 

Both sides agreed on the importance of close cooperation between the Philippines and Japan going forward.
