On 17 August 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya attended a farewell ceremony hosted by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
At the ceremony, Ambassador Endo expressed his hopes that cooperation between Japan and the Philippines will continue to advance in addressing shared challenges. He also commended the cooperative relationship between the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) and the PCG, as well as the leadership of PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil L. Gavan.
While presenting Ambassador Endo with the Outstanding Achievement Medal and Ribbon, Commandant Gavan likewise expressed his appreciation, noting that, in addition to the cooperation between the two countries’ coast guard agencies, Japan’s contributions to the PCG, including the provision of patrol vessels, have been immeasurable. He emphasized that these efforts have not only promoted cooperation in the coast guard field, but have also embodied the strong partnership between Japan and the Philippines.
