Farewell Message from Ambassador ENDO Kazuya
2026/8/26

I assumed the post of Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of the Philippines in March 2024 and have served for about two and a half years. I will conclude my tenure at the end of August.
At a time when Japan-Philippines relations are deepening across a wide range of fields, and as we mark the milestone 70th anniversary of the normalization of our diplomatic relations, it has been a great honor to be entrusted with the responsibility of serving as Ambassador to the Philippines. I have endeavored to carry out this important role with utmost sincerity and to the best of my ability.
During President Marcos’s State Visit to Japan in May this year, our two leaders decided to elevate our bilateral relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the first of its kind for the Philippines. This was an unforgettable milestone for me as the Ambassador of Japan to the Philippines.
This achievement is entirely thanks to the longstanding, tireless efforts of all those engaged in further advancing Japan–Philippines cooperation and exchange across various fields including security, the economy, and people-to-people exchanges. For this, I extend my deepest gratitude.
I am confident that our relationship will continue to grow from strength to strength. While ensuring a smooth handover to my successor, I, myself, will continue to support the development of Japan-Philippines relations and do whatever I can, however small.
To end, I sincerely wish you all continued good health and prosperity. I once again express my heartfelt appreciation and deepest gratitude for the warm support and kindness you have extended.
Thank you very much.
Maraming salamat po.
August 2026
