National Day Reception in Cebu City Celebrates the 84th Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

2017/12/22
On December 7, Ambassador Koji Haneda hosted a National Day Reception at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel in Cebu City to celebrate the 84th birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.

In his speech, Ambassador Haneda expressed how delighted he was to return to the country which feels like his second home, having started his diplomatic career in Manila in the early 1980s.

Ambassador Haneda also noted that the latest Japanese Summer Festival “BON ODORI” held here in Cebu last May attracted a record-breaking 30,000 visitors. For that, he expressed his gratitude to all the people behind its success. He said these grass-roots exchanges will surely help deepen mutual understanding between the people of Japan and the Philippines.

Guests enjoyed the variety of Japanese wines and other drinks, including the Koshu wine from the Yamanashi Prefecture, Sake, Umeshu (plum wine), and Shochu (distilled alcohol) offered at PR booths set up during the reception.
